Unit 2 Computer Systems
On completion of this unit a learner should:
1 Understand the components of computer systems
2 Be able to recommend computer systems for a business purpose
3 Be able to set up and maintain computer systems.
We have got two dedicated computer laboratories at Booth Lane and one at Daventry.
In these students work on the re-building PC's and installing operating systems, troubleshoot and repair.

During this unit the students, in small groups, take apart a PC. They then have to reassemble it all, taking care to follow all the correct procedures.

Students also look at the software components of a computer system. This includes comparing Windows Operating System with a Linux Operating System.
Software utilities such as; disk clean, defrag, formatting, firewall and anti virus are used and their effects and performance are studied.
