BTEC Nationals

Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate, BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma, BTEC Level 3 Diploma and BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Information Technology (QCF)

What are BTEC Nationals?

• Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma – 120 credits - Equivalent to 2 A Levels
• Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma – 180 credits - Equivalent to 3 A Levels

What can I achieve?

In order to gain the qualification students must pass every unit. The minimum we would expect from each unit is a pass. Students are required to get a Merit overall in the first year in order to progress onto the second year. Students, especially those who wish to go onto Higher Education i.e. university, can aim to achieve a distinction.

The points awarded from each unit are added together in order to determine the final grade.

There is also a higher distinction; distinction* that can be awarded to students that achieve a certain number of points.
